Agriculture serves as the primary pillar of Myanmar’s economy, with approximately 75% of the total population residing in rural areas. To support the development of these rural regions and enhance the capacity of their communities, the Rural People's Empowerment Association (RPEA) was established. The association is comprised of members with extensive experience in the development sector, all of whom are dedicated to actively participating in rural development initiatives nationwide. Guided by these objectives, RPEA was founded on February 12, 2024.
Strategic Objectives
In collaboration with the Ministry of Co-operatives and Rural Development:
- To implement and expand capacity-building programs that enhance the sustainable livelihoods of local community members.
- To actively participate in national poverty reduction initiatives and foster the development of resilient communities.
- To facilitate and support the improvement of production capacities for impoverished individuals and stakeholders.
